In 1285, Edward I granted the village of Shipbourne permission to hold a weekly market. In May 2003 the Parochial Church Council re-inaugurated the market. In 2023 we celebrated our 20th Anniversary with a charity dinner cooked by our Patron, Michel Roux
Our objectives are to :- - provide a focus for the local community - offer a retail outlet for small local producers - earn funds which are given to UK and African agricultural charities.
The market is run by volunteers who provide the administration, marketing and operational expertise to enable the market to offer customers high quality local produce and an interesting variety of local produce such that it continually attracts sufficient customers to meet our objectives.
To keep up to date as to what's available and new at the market sign up for our Market Newsletter. by clicking on 'REMINDERS' (see above).
The Co-operative Stall is used by those stallholders who are unable to attend the market but still wish to sell their produce. We offer a variety of Rapeseed oils, honey and Greensand Distillery products
We simply want to make the finest spirits possible from locally sourced surplus produce, and which reflect the flavours of the woods, orchards, fields and hedgerows that surround our distillery.
We use advanced technology and 100% renewable energy, and work with our region's farmers to reduce food waste at the farm gate by fermenting and distilling quality produce that supermarkets won't take.
